As the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S. today, colorectal cancer is a major concern for men and women over the age of 50. Fortunately, colorectal cancer is treatable and beatable when you are proactive.
Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of death by cancer for both men and women in the U.S. To raise awareness of colorectal cancer, Florida Hospital hosted the Prevent Cancer Super Colon™. The exhibit was an incredible, inflatable, interactive 20-foot long, 8-foot-high replica of a human colon that taught people about the risks, symptoms, prevention, early detection, and treatment options for colorectal cancer. The community was able to get a close-up look at healthy tissue, tissue with non-malignant colorectal diseases, as well as tissue with various stages of colorectal cancer. Over 2,500 Volusia and Flagler residents toured the colon! Florida Hospital also offered tools to assess your risk – like a free colon health screening kit and informative lectures. |
